30 Miles, I love my bike and what I'm NOT loving so much. . . . .

I had a awesome ride today! I rode 30 miles in just under 2 hours, and burned 1833 calories!!!!!
I did my first major uphill! Well it was major to me, but minor considering
the other hills that surround my riding territory.
The hill I climbed!!!
Feeling proud about climbing the hill, mind you this hill came at mile 27!!!!
I had a great ride and LOVE my bike :)

Why do I love it so much????
Specialized prides itself in making high quality, smooth riding Woman's bicycles. It is super easy to ride. They use a thinner, lighter aluminum on the Woman's specific bikes. This provides two benefits, they are lighter, and they ride more smoothly. I love the smooth ride!!! The geometry is a bit different than the men's bikes in that the wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear axles) is slightly longer, providing a more stable riding experience. The other thing they do is use a medically tested and designed woman's saddle. Specialized also uses a handlebar that has a shorter reach and drop for smaller hands. (this makes it easier to control the bike, all the while shifting and braking comfortably.) I have felt so comfortable and in control when riding and I know my bike plays a HUGE part in this!!!

What I am not loving so much. . . . . . .
THIS NASTY GLOVE TAN LINE!!!!
If it's this bad already after 3 daytime rides, can you imagine what it will look like the end of summer???

Monday I am doing my first CANYON ride!!!  I am so super excited for it :)

I hope everyone enjoyed BIKE WEEK!!!

WOW... Awesome ride and going up that hill at the end... Amazing!!! Good for you .... YOU ROCK!! I love your bike.... super sweet!

My man and I have just started riding bikes... like today was my second time. My first time a few days ago, we went 5 miles and now my tushie is killing me from the seat. It's those two bones in my butt that rest on it. When we went for our ride today I almost couldn't bear it. I had to sit off balance so they didn't put as much pressure on them. I know it probably because I'm still big... but did you ever have this at the beginning? And do you know, is this something I should just push through and my tushie will get stronger, or do I need to wait until I'm not as sore? I already have a gel cushion seat.

But I LOVE it and I hope that eventually, we can go miles and miles. I'm excited for more!! Thanks for all the inspiration you give me. :)

That is awesome! What a great ride! Your bike tan is just like your chain tat. Enjoy it!

Margene, keep riding. Your tushie definitely gets used to it. Keep it up!

Lindsay, great job with the bike posts. The day I got on a bike for the first time in over 20 years is the day I began to believe I could be healthy and active again..

Could a self-tanning lotion help? I think it'll be worth a try if it gets bad enough. LOL.Congrats on the hill!

I can't believe how many calories you burn in that amount of time. Seriously!? I think I may need to get myself a bike! Do you make up some of those calories in eating? Or, do you live with a deficit?

Too funny! The biggest difference between running and cycling are evident on the hills. In running you know in the back of your head you can always walk. In cycling, when you see a hill you are SOL! You know you got to go up it regardess!

Great ride!

I do have a bike but don't like it very much, I'm more a runner. The positive thing of it compared to running is that you ride much further distances and be able to see more of the country side by riding your bike.

I think your hands look great, you should see mine, there getting old

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

You're quite the inspiration, congrats on your weight loss and lifestyle change :)

I have to say the only thing worse than bike short tan lines are those pesky glove lines!

I am 5'0" and normally proportioned...so I insist on riding a women's specific bike. I have 2 & I hope to replace my tri bike next year to a women's design. The SRAM groupo I have also has a huge adjustability factor so we could tweak the breaks and shifters to fit my hands and not feel like I'm lacking control because the reach & sizing is too big for me.

Have you heard of Team In Training? And America's Most Beautiful Bike ride...a 100 mile ride around Lake Tahoe? Check it out and see if there is a chapter in your area...I did the ride this year and I totally think it is for you!!!!

Oh tell me about those tan lines!!! Between the glove tan lines, my watch and my shorts, I just look great, especially after doing the MS Ride this weekend, 150 miles all in the sun!

Hello! Congratulations on the weight loss! Amazing! I just somehow found my way to your blog and was wondering how many calories do you eat a day? Have you always eaten the same amount of calories? My church group is doign a biggest loser type of group and we try to get as much info as possible! Thanks for the encouragement!

I just found your blog and enjoyed all these cycling posts. My husband and I try to ride several times a week, for about 25 miles each. I just decided it is time for a new saddle (see how hip I can be with the lingo) because the soreness is just not going away this season. Sigh.
