I love LIFTING!!!!

Another day of my eating. I am telling you posting pictures of what you eat forces you to
be on top of your game!!! Once again the food I ate in the order I ate it!
My food from today!  Super easy and super yummy!!! Those raspberries and strawberries were divine!!!
Passed on the the birthday cheesecake!!!
Was grateful for the fresh strawberries so I didn't feel left out of the celebration :)
It was a super fun workout tonight! I lifted with my 3 sisters, taught them a few tips, tricks, and how to's!
LOVED it. We all recently join a new fitness club together. I am sure their will be many
more sibling workouts :)
My workout today was arms, LOVED IT!!!!  I haven't been able to lift for a few weeks. I totally missed it, lifting is totally empowering. Lifting weights is what totally help me  loose my weight. There is really nothing better then a good weight training session!!! WHY did I let my busy life get me out of my lifting routine??? Tonight reminded me of how MUCH I love lifting. It provides me with such an amazing sense of empowerment that I don't get running, or cycling! I love the way I feel lifting, holding my body tight as breath in and out and control my movement. Feeling and seeing my muscles move as I lift. Seeing how strong I am, and pushing myself through my repetitions. Leaving knowing that my body is still burning calories, to rebuild the muscle my lifting broke down. AMAZING!!!

Do you love lifting?
Are you scared to lift?

Never been able to lift, but really should. This fall/winter I am going to do the 100 Pushups Challenge, started it once before and loved it.

Great way to present your eats. Love it.
Not sure I could have resisted the cheesecake. I KNOW I would have had to tasted just a bite. YUM!

Thats super you get to workout with your sisters. Although, if you push them too hard, you might get a mouthful since family members usually don't hold back (at least we don't) ;).

I enjoy working with weights as well. Hubster and I used to go to one of the best body builders for training. What a change in muscle definition! Wish he was still available. IT was a tremendous workout.

Hi Lindsay, Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Hope you enjoyed it enough to come back. I love yours - especially all the pics. We spent some time in southern Utah on our summer trip a couple of years ago and cannot wait to explore the rest of it. We have a lot common interests, so I'll enjoy keeping up with you. Now that I've seen your food pics this morning, I need to go eat breakfast!! LOL!

I'm scared to lift in a gym by myself. If my husband was there, I'd be fine but without him I feel lost. I don't really know what to do. But I just ordered a 40 lb weight set from CSN so I'm excited about lifting at home and being able to do the weights parts of my workout DVDs.

We are built very similarly but you are tiny! If this is rude you don't have to answer but how tall are you/what weight are you? I'm just thinking we're very similar and I'm curious as to how much LOL

I just started getting more into strength training. I actually really like using the free weights at the gym, definitely more than the weight machines. But I don't have a routine down yet. How did you start lifting and find a routine?

I think out of all the exercising that I do, lifting weights is the best. It is so empowering.

I love the fact you can workout with your sisters. Mine lives far enough away that it is difficult for us to do. Plus she would just kick my butt - which in itself isn't such a bad idea! :)

I love that you were able to workout with your siblings! That is just so cool!
I do love lifting but often don't do enough of it. I chicken out when I am at the gym alone. Why? No idea but I prefer to do weights when my hubby is with me! lol

I didn't see much after the picture of the cheesecake...LOL! Doing the P90X thing now. Only in wk 2 and I already need heavier weights.

I LOVE lifting! Love it! And you're right about feeling empowered. I always lecture my friends on feeling comfortable in the "guy's area of the gym"- as they call it.

Maybe you could do a post about that. How to feel comfortable or not self-concious at the gym- so many women have this issue. Did you when you first got started?

I just started to lift again. I was doing it regularly for a while and then I got into running and it's fallen off my radar for a few months. I love lifting and I totally understand where you're coming from saying it's empowering. Love it!

How's running going? I noticed that your first half is NEXT MONTH?!?!?! By the way, I am a weights girl...ALL THE WAY!

I love lifting!! I lift year round, heavy weights in the off season, and light weights during the season. Lifting as makes you stronger on the bike and run as well.

I enjoy lifting, but tend to be lazy. I am trying to make a more concerted effort to do it on a regular basis. I brought my bands in to my office so when I have a break I can do a mini session (that fizzle after 1 week).

Game plan - get back to mini sessions at work, and lift Thursdays and Sundays.

I love lifting! It really makes you feel so powerful and I really believe it is helping my running!

Oh I wish I liked lifting like you do. I personally don't like it at all. I like the results but I have much more fun on the elliptical.

Do you have a routine or schedule you follow?

Amy said...

I'm terrified of lifting. Because I don't know what I'm doing, or what's reasonable, or how to use the machines. Would you consider posting your lifting routine (or an appropriate one for a newbie?) saying how many reps you do of which things? I'd love to try it...but I'm a pansy and I'm clueless.

Just stopped by from another blog. Wow! I love your story and am inspired! I am thinking of taking up biking! Could you give me some tips on bikes to take a look at? Thanks!!!

I love lifting! I agree, it's such a good feeling but I struggle to keep it into my weekly routine.

However, I go to a class called BodyPump and it incorporates barbell lifting with music. We work on all parts of the body, triceps, biceps, shoulders, glutes, hams, with lunges and squats as well... and pushups! It's wonderful. If I could I would like to do it 2 times a week!

Those strawberries look delish! Must put them on tomorrow's shopping list.

I do LOVE lifting, but I'm kind of new at it...again. I use the machines. They used to call Strive at the Y. Each machine works a different part of your body. Only problem is right now, I need someone with me, because I can't remember where all the settings on the machines are supposed to be. So next time, hubby will help me and I will take my little notebook and take notes for each machine. That way, if I feel like going by myself, I won't have a problem. Between the weights and the laps in the pool at the YMCA in the past two weeks, I am already noticing a little difference in my arms. Yeah!

Thank you for posting your menu and exercise routines. I was one of the ones asking before!:) I have lost 50 lbs. since the birth of my second child and am stuck. Maybe lifting weights will help me get out of my rut. I am scared to lift weights because I don't want to get bulky. Any suggestions?

I love lifting too. I makes a visible change relatively quickly. I took my oldest son with me today and he ridiculed me and told me I was weak. I reminded him that I would fourteen once...and all too soon he would be old too!!

I love, love, love lifting!! Free weights rock! I'm so glad to hear there are others out there who love it as much as I do!

Oh how your photos make me realise how much I miss the gym. My partner and I are going to purchase some free weights so we can do a pump class in our living room.

I wish I loved lifting! I know I should do it more as a runner, but I always find myself getting bored. Maybe I should get a lifting buddy! How fun to be able to workout with your sisters!

I am not sure if I lift per se but I love, love, love to use weights. My 10-pounders and I are best buds. I love seeing the definition in my arms and finally being able to do a real push-up.

Loved your post! How fun to work out with your family.
I LOVE lifting. I love that feeling of not being able to do the last rep cause you have pushed your muscles to the limit. I love the soreness that lifting a heavier weight brings the next day. I know crazy but I like it!
