Joys Of Womanhood

I want to eat anything and everything in sight today. I have a raging appetite, and to top it off the scale wasn't very nice today!   Note to self , don't weigh when you are PMS!!!
My skin is broken out and my face is puffy!
My poor Husband and kids have had a very irritable, emotional , grouchy Mom and Wife for the last few days.  I have no desire to do anything!

So today I thought I would research and post some tips on dealing with PMS! Our bodies are amazing and if we are in-tune with them we can cope and try to be happier!
A great chart with some tips of what to consume and not to consume!

Healthy eating and exercise help a TON with dealing with PMS.

If  you're thinking to yourself that you look fat, studies show that on average a person can gain anywhere between 1-4 pounds before your period! So we are not just imagining that we are fatter, puffier or bloated we really are and we have something to blame it on!

Cut the salt. Reducing the sodium levels in our bodies helps in prevent retaining water.

Body Aches try some Yoga , or relaxing in a LONG  hot bath. Don't be afraid to take a pain killer either.

So instead of sitting here feeling sorry for myself, and thinking of all the yummy food I'm craving.  I am going to head outside and hammer out my run for the day!  Then tonight I am going to hit a Yoga class and come home a nicer Mommy!

How do you deal with PMS? What are your cravings? Share your tips and tricks!!!

UGH PMS is the worst! I love my heating pad for the cramps. I also don't weigh myself anytime surrounding PMS/period.

Hmmmm, so appropriate for today!!!!

I'm a raging LUNATIC right now..and boy I mean it! PMS is horrible!

For the last 5 years I had a Mirena IUD so I did not have to deal with any of this..nada. I forgot what it was like.

I'm waiting for my husband to walk through the door so I can go for a walk. Hoping I'll come home a different woman.

I definitely need the cravings to go away.

Thanks for your post!!!

Well, considering this is my first week on plan, AND my period is due any day now (yeah, talk about timing), I'm surprisingly doing really well! I definately agree that what you put into your body helps combat symptoms of PMS. This week I've been all about the dairy, fruits, veggies, etc. and I really can't say that I'm having my usual PMS cravings! I hope this is a trend beginning!

i find that each person must use trial and error to discover what works best for her...for me, personally, i have found the most fast acting remedy to be biting people's heads off....though it sometimes has long-lasting side effects....hahahahha.

Chocolate and potato chips! Give me just a little of those two things and a little me time and I am much better:)

I find that taking pain killers and throwing things typically helps. ;)

I thought I might be on to something when I stopped eating simple carbs and immediately noticed a decrease in PMS symptoms. I don't remember the last time I had cramps or was irritable during that time.

Glad to see that I was on the right track according to the chart you posted. Now, if only I could kick my coffee habit!

Wow, 100 pounds lost? Good for you! That's amazing. I'm trying to lose about 20 right now and that seems like quite a bit, but I guess it's all relative.

I am lucky because I am on the pill so I will usually only have PMS for one day, but watch out because I will tear you a new one. Usually a cocktail and a quiet room work but I noticed that if I work out really hard it helps too. ~ Stephanie

Great tips! I find getting my workouts done, getting lots of sleep help battle PMS to some extent.

luckily...i don't have many problems when it comes to getting my period. never crampy, or tired or any of it, really. {knock on wood} howeverrrrr...when the rare cramp does occur, working out ALWAYS helps. it's an instant boost and picker upper.

i love the little PMS diet guide. makes complete sense.

What an inspiring blog you have! I love it!! Thanks for visiting mine.

It's totally true. When I was on my diet, there was always about ten days where my weight would hold constant or go up at least a pound...but then, I'd lose it all after the effects of the period went away.

But excerise is the great equalizer and mood booster. Good idea to get out and shake a leg.

I think I should be sequestered to a cabin in the woods alone during PMS...although I am never fully sure it's PMS until after the fact...one of its many charms! (I always hesitate to say to Mr. Debbie "FYI-Look out, I have PMS and slightly irrational", just in case it ISN'T PMS, and then I'm showing him how mentally unstable I am and have nothing to blame it on.)

Yep, a secluded cabin in the woods for a few days...everyone would be a little happier with that one, me thinks...)

Hi Lindsay! Thank you for stopping by my blog the other day and leaving a comment. I love the comments. XX
Also, I spent most of last night reading and re-reading your posts, boo-hooing like a baby all the way through.
Partly from happiness for you accomplishing so much and partly from realizing that I have SO much work to do, myself.
Actually I've known that for a while but reading about your trials and tribulations really pushed it home for me.
I have to lost AT LEAST 90 lbs.
Somedays I am SO motivated. Other days I think "why bother".
Thank you for such an inspirational blog. Count me in as a big fan!!
And super job losing your weight and becoming healthier!! GO GIRL!

Sigh. This hit me just last week. And well? Cheese is my go-to for comfort food and I'm sad to say I ate a whole block of the swiss variety before I even knew what was happening.

I've discovered that fat free re-fried beans or fat-free cream cheese really is a good substitute for my craving. In my mouth, the refried beans has the same "feel" as a creamy cheese spread.
