Water & No Diet Coke

Water is the second thing I have gained a better appreciation for! Especially today after my run I was so glad when I got back into my car and saw my water bottle sitting there full of water waiting for me! It saved me I was so parched and couldn't wait to swallow it down. Nothing like some good old H2O.
See me and my Diet Coke broke up 6 weeks ago! I have not even had a sip. I Honestly don't miss it at all :) I think my secret to not missing it is the fact that I still go through the routine of pretending to get one. I pull up to the the usual gas station, and ask for a 32 oz ice water ,extra ice and a fat straw!
I make this stop once a week maybe twice! They tease me every time for ordering water ;) Hey if it helps me not want the Diet Coke then it's all good! I will then keep filling it up at home and have fresh cold water with me all the time! Helps me get a TON of water every day. And so what if I pretend it's Diet Coke!!!
How do you make sure you get enough water every day?
Or do you still drink the good ol' soda pop?

As for my workout I ran outside here are my stats:
Total Distance   2.9
Total Time    00:38:03
Average Speed    5.10
Elevation Gain    360
Min Elevation    4,996
Max Elevation    5,154
I felt awesome after. I felt like I could have kept running, I didn't want to over do it though being the newbie that I am! It was SUPER windy while I ran, loved the tail wind on the way back though :)

Today my daily caloric intake ended at 1548

I never had a soda problem because I don't like carbonation, but I do have a "not drinking enough water" problem. It's not even because I don't like water...I just forget to drink. I might just have to try your method...I mean whenever I get an unsweetened iced tea from a drive-thru, I manage to drink it all...

Good suggestion! =D

oh and great job on the run!

I have a desk job so luckily, I tend to drink a ton of water. Unfortunately, I have a diet soda every afternoon. *sigh* I gave up pop once for New Year's and did awesome. Why I ever started drinking it again, i'll never know.

Diet Coke... I keep telling myself I need to drink less of it but I just can't. I prefer Diet Coke from the fountain with lots of ice. I've been trying to drink more water but it's just not the same. I guess I need to do it in baby steps and not try to cold turkey it.

I have a diet coke maybe once every few months but am pretty much soda free now. I LOVE my water - the colder the better. I love your idea of still stopping and getting a water from the place you used to get soda - sometimes I think we become more addicted to the ritual then the actual item.

I drink both. I can't stop the diet coke. I figure there are so many possible vices in the world, oh well... ;) Like Lisa, I prefer it from the fountain and after a long run, I always stop and get a large one from McDonald's.

I gave up soda about 6 months ago and I keep a water bottle next to me while I work and fill it up all day but I still miss soda when I go out to eat or on a road trip

Hi. New to your blog. I have come to it as a result of you commenting on my blog. So thank you!

You look great and have done fabulous! Wow, what an accomplishment. Half marathon, huh? I have been thinking about it. Originally, I said I really wasn't interested in a half, but more and more, I'm thinking well, maybe I will.

I am a wateraholic! I drink it all day long. I used to be a Diet Pepsi junkie, but gave it up 6 years ago. Haven't missed it. I get my carbonation fix with 1 Crystal Geyser lime flavored sparkling water a day during the week. On rare occassions, I will have an all natural root beer - the expensive kind with no crap in it.
Way to go on letting the soda go!! Keep up the good work.

I love water and always have. People at work tease me for how much I drink, as I usually have 2-3 water bottles (re-fillable) with me at all times. LOL

I gave up soda, 3 days ago. LOL. I have done it before in the past but came crawling back. But, I think the trick for me now is remember how good my body feels without it. I have to remind myself that it makes me feel bloated and just darn right crumby when I do drink it. blech!

Awesome job on kicking the soda habit!!! It's a tough one to kick. I'm on again off again with it.

What a fun idea to replace your usual cup with water and ice and straw! :) Good for you for 6 weeks off! I would love to try that with sugar - not permanently but perhaps a month. Never have gotten up the strength to do it!

Diet Coke in a foam cup with crushed ice and a little vanilla. . . I CAN'T quit you!!!

I really should try though. I know it's not good for me.

I've gone a little over a year without a Diet Coke (after a seven or eight can a day habit), and I can't say that I miss the stuff at all.

I've read some research stating that the artificial sweeteners actually have a negative impact on appetite suppression and weight loss.

Good job kicking the soda habit! It gets even easier over time...

I've been trying to break up with Diet Coke too, but haven't succeeded yet!

I'll have to try your method!!

i gave up soda 6 years ago and haven't looked back! you can do it :) when you are tempted, go for a little workout -- that always makes water taste soo good!

I feel your pain about the break up. I have to have a soda cup and a big straw to stay away from the Mt. Dew. I have only known you as skinny Lindsey. I had no idea the transformation you have gone through. You are amazing.
