SOLO and Packet Pick Up!

I have NEVER ridden SOLO before EVER!!!!! Today was my FIRST time, I headed out early afternoon and peddled out 20 miles in 1:18:50 and 1143 calories!
I don't have a bike rack.....I need to invest in one but until then the back of my car works great!!!! I love how one of my high heels somehow managed to be in the picture. Maybe next time I'll try riding in them?
I headed out West to the "Country"! SO BEAUTIFUL, I loved it. It was very peaceful riding alone, I was left alone with my own thoughts and feeling. Maybe that wasn't a good thing...... No I actually loved it, I was able to reflect on my life, kids, husband and daily tasks.
As I came to the bird refuge, I couldn't help but stop and reflect on my life for a minute. I was alone, no cars, no other people, just me and the birds.  As I looked around I felt go grateful that I CHOSE to change my life, that loosing weight has given me a NEW life. I was appreciating my hard work and remembering where I came from. I know that my hard work has paid off and is continuing to show and bless my daily life.
I loved watching the ducks!
I finished my ride and felt great! I could have kept going and wanted to however I needed to save my legs for my. . . . . .

FIRST 10K SATURDAY!!!!
I am running in my FIRST 10K Saturday, actually it's my first running race EVER!!!!! I am excited and NERVOUS :) I will be running the Deseret News 10K.
My friend Dawn came went with me to packet pick-up with me, I wasn't sure how it worked and she is a SEASONED race packet picker upper!!! Dawn will be running 12 marathons in 12 months!!!! I will be a supportive friend and cheer her on!!! I'll live my marathon running through her:)

Good luck at the race, you'll have so much fun!

No race for me this weekend, but I do have a 17 mile run planned. Gulp.

I never ride solo MTB, but will often ride solo on the road. I think a group can be fun, but solo is a good test of self motivation.

Good luck with the 10K and keep it up!

Good luck with your first 10K tomorrow. Get a good nights sleep and ENJOY yourself.

I often bike by myself. It is fun to ride with others - but I like to use this time to have my thoughts to myself. I am training for the MS 150 - two back to back 75 mile rides. Saturday I am participating in a 40 mile fundraising ride and then again on Sunday - riding 40 miles with some of the team.

For all the reasons you discovered today, I love riding alone. Always, safety first, so I'm careful where I ride alone, but the solitude and thinking time can't be beat. Would love to ride in your neck of the woods sometime. So different from the East, but oh, so beautiful.

I prefer to ride in a group but I end up having to go alone sometimes, like today. I did 29 miles today during lunch. Normally I ride with a group of ladies on Thursday morning, but everyone backed out. I was disappointed, but I was able to bust out more miles and go at a faster pace than I normally would with that group. This past Monday I did my usual group ride and I was the only girl! It was supposed to be a C+ ride (18 or so mph) but in the end we did 38 miles, 20.4 mph and we ended in a nasty storm, rain, hail and tornado warnings, not so much fun!

I always ride solo. 27 miles solo last Sunday.

I am interested in joining a group, but I am intimidated. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I rarely ride, but when I do it is usually solo (as are my runs).

I am running the same race Saturday and it is also my first 10K! I am so excited (especially because it is all down hill, or at least almost all down hill) good luck!!

Nice job on the solo 20 miler! I've ridden solo a few times, but I def. prefer company on my runs and bike rides. :)
Best of luck to you on your 10k!

If you find a good bike rack for a reasonable price I'd love to hear about it. I've been throwing my bike in the back of my car for the last few summers and it works but is not the best solution...

I LOVE group rides so much more than solo rides!

I never ride alone..Ok aside from riding to the post office I never ride at all, but I HAVE done that 10k. My advice is make sure you still have some juice to look cute for running along the parade route....do they still do that? Its been awhile...Happy P-DAY!

I ride solo during the week a lot but I like riding with people....so there is someone there if I need to change a flat. My coach actually told me I need to go out and ride 70 miles by self so I get used to being in my own little word.

Good luck in your 10k! It's a fun distance. Enjoy it!

I love going on bike rides with my partner however I ride the majority of the time on my own. It gives me time to think and take in the sights.

Cool post. Good luck in the race.

Yes, I've been on zillions of solo rides - road and mountain bike. I ride solo most of the time, which also makes the group rides fun and a change of pace.

I'll organize mountain bike rides occasionally, since I dig seeing people get out there.

My favorite person to ride with is my 11 year old son. Awesome time together. My 6 year old daughter is starting to ride more. She's bugging me to take her on the local bike path. I think she's ready - should be fun.

As for riding in high heels, check out this site. Cool site that features normal folks riding for transportation:

I'll ride solo or with a group. Matters not to me. I used to ride my bike to work last year a couple days a week and I loved that.

And I wish I knew before you were doing the 10k - we coulda met up!!
