Lake Solitude

I knew that I wasn't going to be able to attend hiking group this week so
I took my family and did the hike on our own.
We did the loop around Silver Lake which was 1.5 miles and then headed up the Lake Solitude Trail.
Which was 1.1 miles. We hiked a total of  3.7 miles.
The scenery was absolutely beautiful.
We saw a LARGE moose, deer, fish, squirrels and ducks.
We had a lot of fun.  We were racing day light coming down the mountain, so we pretty much ran the whole way down. As I was running along side my children, I was overwhelmed with happiness, gratitude and hope. I was so grateful for the changes I made in my life, to be able to run, along side them and be able to experience the joy with them. I had great hope that they would be learning from what we are teaching them that they may have the desire to live active healthy lives. I was thankful for my mind and body that provided me and supported my weight loss changes! I was so happy to be able to enjoy the great outdoors with my loved ones.
What are you grateful for today?

That hike is beautiful!

I too am grateful for living in such a beautiful place (So Cal), for my wonderful son, my loving family, my good health, and all of the opportunities I have been given. I hope to demonstrate that gratefulness in my daily life and as an example to my little one. I want to live each day to it's fullest! :)

What beautiful scenery and such a good looking family! Thanks for sharing.

I am grateful....that I can pick up my coffee cup this morning. :) Yesterday I rejoined the local Y and did my first upper body workout with weights in a very, very long time. I've been focusing for so long on running and skating and now that I'm forced to go easy on the foot, I've had to refocus. Yesterday I did 25 minutes on the bike (maybe not such a wise choice for the foot) and then just tried to remember how to use all the machines. My arms, shoulders, and chest are DEFINITELY feeling it this morning!

Tomorrow I'll be doing laps. Very excited to get back in the pool. Been a long time.

What beautiful pics!
I am grateful to be able to do whatever I can physically and to push myself beyond my limits. One day I may not be able to so so today is the day to live it.

I'm grateful that I my employer is letting me telecommute while my wife is on assignment here (for a couple more months) in southeast Utah at Canyonlands National Park. I am not looking forward to returning to urban life and a daily visit to the office. Hopefully we'll find another park assignment soon.

Lovely hike for a lovely family.

I'm grateful for you! Your story of hiking with your children and the hope that gave you, gives me hope! I haven't been able to have children as of yet, and the doctors tell me it's because of my weight. So I'm on this journey. And seeing moms like you that have changed their lives, and by doing so have given their mom back - gives me hope and courage that I can get there! Thank you! And congrats!

I did that hike! It was a lot of fun. When I was growing up, that was the hike we did when we were twelve. It was so much fun to see your pics and relive it a little.

Isn't it wonderful to see yourselves become and 'active family'?

I'm grateful for a wonderful opportunity to work on, even if it does mean I'm away from my blog a bit more. It's been fun.
