At The Old Ball Game
I get to spend 2-3 nights a week watching my Husband Coach and my 10 year old play baseball. I LOVE it! I get to sit out and enjoy the weather, the young energy of baseball boys and feeling part of the great community where I live!
I always come prepared. . . .
With a bag full of healthy snacks so that I can AVOID. . . .
THE SNACK SHACK!!!!!
There is NOTHING healthy at the snack shack!!!!
Now don't get me wrong, I totally support people going to the snack shack, a treat is fine every once in a while. I used to hit up the snack shack for my nachos with EXTRA cheese, a hot dog, cotton candy, and a snow cone to wash it all down! However if you are spending a good 2 hours at the ballpark 2-3 days a week. Your health can't afford your snacks to come from the snack shack every time.
You MUST go prepared with some healthy snacks in your bag!!!!

I love your purse!!
Looks like fun...I love the summer months when you can get out and have some fun!
The Snack Shack should be called SNACK Shack heart attack! HA!
Your snack choices are some that I would totally take too. As well as maybe some 100 calorie cookies or something like that. A water bottle or a diet coke.
LOVE YOUR YELLOW PURSE, I am a purse lover. Jenn
I've always been a fan of baby carrots, but now I'm making more an effort to diversify my snacks (and less cheese). Celery (when I'm too lazy to chop it up), granny smith or gala apples with nut butter or my fav - air popped popcorn with a zingy topping (usually season salt, no butter).
My favorite on the go snack is carrot sticks with a 100 calorie pack of hummus. SOO yummy!
Almonds, Clif Bars, bananas. All stuff I love to have on hand.
Although I do love me some nachos with fake cheese. It would be really hard for me to resist that. I usually just don't carry any cash with me to my kids games so I can't buy anything even if I want to.
Good for you!! I'm proud of you bringing healthy snacks.
I loved the years my daughter played softball - until they made the playoffs, and kept winning! One year we had a game a night for six nights!
Still fun though! Just ate a lot of Subway sandwiches!
You did great! I love that you brought your own snacks! Why can't the snack shacks of the ballfield world provide some health options, too?! We run into the same problems with our daughters' games.
Lindsey I have really enjoyed reading about your success story! Way to go you sweet girl! Woohoo! You are beautiful and very inspiring. Love your blog!
I agree with all of your snack choices. Great idea! I too love bananas and I really need the extra potassium. I'm actually low on this vital mineral after taking a water/blood pressure pill for quite a long time. Can you believe that? Sigh. I'm off of them now!
Please come by and visit me anytime! You are always welcome. Thank you for stopping by and your kind encouragement.
Blessings, ~Melissa :)
Love the bag. So cute - you sassy lady you.
I know what you mean. Eating away from home can be hard and a total pain. I love the saying about failure (meaning eating yucky food) - failure is just lack of preparation.
I'm with all the other ladies...Your purse is SO CUTE!
I'm a string cheese kinda girl. I also like fruit but only if it is something that doesn't take much to get to like grapes, strawberries, and bananas.
French fries! The snack shack can also be hard on the wallet!!
hi sweet girl!
1) you're gorgeous!
2) discovered you via your mama laughlin interview - am a new follower!
3) so smart and SO true...snack shacks are always full of TROUBLE!
Thankfully softball season is over for us. I always come prepared with snacks, but it's usually for my girls. I need to start packing myself some better snacks. Thanks for the reminder. I'll have to do that next time we go out. I really like your blog. It's one of my favs.
Good for you being prepared! Nice reminder, I was getting very good at keeping a packed cooler in the car. But have gotten away from that!
I love string cheese, fruits, and cottage cheese with season all in and veggies to dip in it. I also like 1 point worth of marshmallows and 1 point work of chocolate chips, it's a great little treat.

I love all the fruit - that's usually my favorite snack.
But when I'm not in the mood for fresh fruit, I like taking a couple of real fruit strips (no sugar, just fruit and 45 calories each).
I also like to take sunflower seeds - they do have some fat but they aren't too bad for you and they take a long time to eat so you can be "snacking" forever and have had few calories of sunflower seeds. Plus they are very "baseball" - my son and I put them in this little baseball bat shaped container. It's fun!
Oh hey Lindsay! I recognize you from a post Mama Laughlin did the other day! Congrats on your weight loss!
You know, the color of that green monster sorta reminds me of your page background ... but I swear, it tastes like berries and stuff, no spinach taste at all!
Oh and can I holla at your cute yellow purse! HOLLA! so cute!
My favorite snacks to go are larabars or pure bars, and just fresh fruit I can carry. That is so sweet he coaches your son's team, must be so fun to watch!
thanks for stopping by my blog! I love yours! What a great idea to take the healthy snacks to avoid the bad ones!
Sounds like a great way to spend an evening! I'm glad you always go prepared. I need to get better at that.
Great job going to the game prepared so you could avoid the concession stand! Thumbs up!!
Maria
You look too cute!! My fondest memories were going to the ballpark to watch my little brother play. I can't wait until my little man gets big enough to play!!
So smart to bring snacks with you.
You don't look old enough to have a 10 year old! You look like a 20 year old ... :D
I like to bring fruit, 100 cal hummus cups with Wasa or Wasa with laughing cow cheese, nuts, yogurt and fruit,
larabars (new snack for me) Cherries!!!
I am searching for healthy to-go snack ideas too. I think for me I am going to pack some sort of bar - I found some yummyish nut bars that are fairly whole foodish. Fruit is good too, as long as it isn't bruisable. Although all the fruits I love now need some prep work (mangos, berries, watermelon).
Way to plan an outing. I love it when I do that!!! Way to go!! Hugs
Thanks for stopping by my blog...Wow, already lost 100 pounds that is awesome. I love to follow those who have been there and lost the weight as well as people like me who are still on the journey.
I am in the same boat at the ball park at least 3 nights a week. That is awesome all the fruit you bring. My go to snack is sunflower seeds or nuts in general...usually almonds.
Kudos to you for going prepared! I know, from experience, that it makes all the difference in the world!
For me, I like to keep Smart Cheddar Popcorn, Rice Crispy Treats, nuts, fresh orange slices, fresh cantaloupe chunks and/or fresh cherries handy. Oh, and lots of water! Now, can you imagine the size of my purse!?! lol But hey, whatever works, right!?! ( ;
Fabulous yellow purse!!!! I like taking some fun sized candy as a special treat so I feel like I'm indulging..but can only do so much damag@
We always bring healthy snacks to our activities too:) It is a fantastic idea:)
I love the pictures of the your hubby's baseball team:) I bet that is a blast! Have a wonderful weekend Lindsay:)
I have something for you over at my blog :D
sooo smart to take snacks! I swear that's how I started to put on pounds as a kid, all the softball game sodas and candy
Oh, I love the ball diamond! My summers used to be spent out there every week playing softball! And then I WORKED at our snack shack! Good call to bring a purse full of goodies! My favorite on-the-go snacks are either bananas or Clif bars!
Cute pic! Honestly, I hate eating on the go and try to avoid it!
Hi Lindsay, this is my first time to your blog and I just wanted to say thanks for popping over to mine to comment! Your a inspiration and congrats on your amazing journey. You look fabulous and healthy!
Strong cheese, bananas and apples are staple snacks for me and my girls.
Have a great weekend!
Love the bag of healthy snacks and love that purse! On the go, I like apples, Kashi bars, and peaut butter on whole wheat. :)
Good for you bringing your own healthy snacks. I always try to pack some. When I am in a crunch though sometimes I panic and don't know what to bring like I don't know whats healthy
