Post Workout Food

Today I was starving after my workout so my third appreciation goes to FOOD!!! Food is awesome, our bodies crave it! Food fuels our bodies and I love a healthy fully functioning body.  It was amazing to me after today's workout, I was empty! I so needed something quick, filling, and a protein packed smoothie was just what I needed!
My favorite smoothie has 1 serving of Yoplait Greek Yogurt, 1 scoop of protein powder, 1 cup of frozen no sugar added mixed berries, and as much water as you need to make it all blend well!!! I occasionally will add spinach but sometimes can't stomach the color :( It is a yummy smoothie and a quick way to get a ton of protein and some quick carbs. It comes in at 330 calories 40g protein and 38g of carbs.  PERFECT for post workout!!!

What is your favorite post workout food or foods?

Today was a CRAZY day for me! I have no idea what my calories were! SORRY!!! All I do know is that I ate very healthy, and drank TONS of water. I even passed on cake and ice cream for my Mom's Birthday!!! Happy Birthday Mommy :) For my workout today I worked chest, back and abs. I clocked 15 minutes on the elliptical.

Make sure to stay tuned for day 4 of things I love/appreciate. . . .
The thing I love has a
GIVEAWAY!!!
So exciting so make sure to check back :)

Post workout foods - WATER! If I've run a lot of miles I am not really hungry until a few hours later. Water is really what I want the most. An apple comes in second place.

Your smoothie looks yummy!

You know the drink packs you can buy for your water bottle? We put water and those in our smoothies- it adds flavor but no extra calories or sugar (if you buy that kind). Just thought I'd let you know our trick since we do the yogurt, frozen berries, and protein powder too!

I don't really have a Post workout food, so I might steal your idea because a lot of times I am starving after I workout. Thanks!

I will generally mix some chocolate muscle milk with my fat free lactaid milk and chow down on a banana. It works out to about 340 calories. 150 for the muscle milk powder, 80 for the milk and another 110 for the banana. Sometimes I'll make a smoothie out of it and add ice :)

In my magic bullet today I had:

1 carrot
handful of mixed berries
1/2 cup of yogurt
handful of baby spinach
1/2 cup of orange juice
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
5 fresh strawberries.

My calories were 300 too! And it kept me full forever. I love my magic bullet!

That's the same berry mix I use in my smoothies. LOVE it.

Thanks for blogging your amazing story. It's always so encouraging to read about people who lose weight (and keep it off) using sheer determination. Very inspirational.
